Great shout on the Scorsese influence in Nightcrawler. One of my issues with Joker was that it copied Taxi Driver/King of Comedy as opposed to hinting at those movies within its own original story, like Nightcrawler did.

You are so right about him winning for the most standard Oscar-bait movie. I thought it was going to happen with Stronger honestly.
And yes! My exact thoughts on Joker. It felt too much like a retread of so many things we've seen before but without the almost satirical edge.
