Robert Pattinson I: The Lost City of Z 🏞
In movie news: Trailers for 'The Grudge' reboot, 'The Photograph', and more
☀️ Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Inspired by my friend Leigh and this viral tweet, I’m going to talk about the many terrific movies starring Robert Pattinson. Since his Twilight days, he’s worked with some prolific directors and put out some of the most interesting work (and accents) of any actor working today.

Okay, here’s day 1️⃣.
Today’s movie: The Lost City of Z
STREAMING ON PRIME VIDEO
What it’s about: The Lost City of Z follows the real-life expeditions of British explorer Percival Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) — what a name! — who becomes obsessed with finding a mysterious city in the Amazon in the early 20th century.
Why you should watch it: Better people than me have written about this movie. So, here’s an excerpt from The Atlantic’s David Sims’ review: “The Lost City of Z is a miraculous movie, at once moving, intimidating, and gorgeous to behold… It feels like a work of classic Hollywood cinema, but without the arch, mannered quality that can come with a contemporary director trying to harken back to the past. Gray’s film is beguiling and poetic, capable of gluing you to the screen for every second of its languorous 150-minute running time and lingering in the brain for weeks after.”
Details: 🎬 James Gray // ⏳ 141 minutes // 🗓 2017 // 📺 Trailer
Fun fact: Gray wrote to Francis Ford Coppola for advice on filming in a jungle. Coppola’s two word reply: “Don’t go.”

In movie news: Too. Many. Trailers.
A slew of upcoming movies dropped trailers in the last week, so here’s a quick rundown:
Holding a grudge can kill you. After an absolutely terrible 2004 American remake of the original Japanese version, The Grudge is rearing its ugly head out from under the covers. However, the team behind the camera includes Nicolas Pesce (Piercing) and Sam Raimi (Evil Dead series). There may be some hope.
The cast of romance The Photograph is basically made up of some of the most exciting up and coming talent in Hollywood: Issa Rae, Lakeith Stanfield, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Chante Adams, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Y'lan Noel, Lil Rel Howery, and Teyonah Parris. Pretty much a dream cast. Plus, I’ll never turn down a good romance.
Apple TV+ is throwing their hat in awards season with The Banker, a drama about two Black entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) and Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson), who in the 1950s hire a white man (Nicholas Hoult) to pose as the head of their business to get around the racism of the era. Is it awards bait? Yes. Am I looking forward to it? Yes. Will I get Apple TV+ to watch it? Debateable.
